Investigation of consequences of de-watering gas holder pits.
QuadConsult was commissioned to investigate the consequences of dewatering four very large gasholder pits up to 10m deep near to the River Thames in London. The site was decommissioned and environmental improvements put in place under the management of Celtic Technologies
QuadConsult undertook a finite element analysis of the gas holders and the surrounding soils to model the potential impact on surrounding structures of dewatering the holders. Particular attention was given to two elevated railway lines just south of the Grosvenor Bridge approach to Chelsea Power Station.
