QuadConsult was contracted by Metclad Contracts, a long-term client, to specify hot rolled structural steel sections and, where possible, design bespoke cold-formed framing and fixings to support the black finish, horizontal and vertical spanning Trimo cladding panels for new Engineering Innovation Centre buildings on campus at University of Central Lancaster. The main building is six storeys high, with plant and equipment rooms located at roof level. Many bespoke cladding details required attention, such as framing around windows, doors, columns, and around cladding penetrations at roof level required for plant equipment.
