In their capacity as Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) QuadConsult was called on to carry out emergency structural inspections (day or night) of rail assets and structures in close proximity to the railway at Hodgeston Hill railway over bridge, near Hodgeston, Pembrokeshire.

Initial works were undertaken using Form G for category 0 – emergency works undertaken without a detailed design using network rail standard details. Subsequently the extent of repair works was under-estimated, and it was then determined that Form A (Certificate of Approval in Principle) and Form B (Certificate of Design and Check for Permanent Works) were required. These forms were then compiled, produced and submitted by QuadConsult.

Following this new steel girders were installed and primary girder web strengthening works were carried out which completed the repair works.
