Greater Gabbard wind farm, one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world.

Greater Gabbard wind farm, located about thirty miles off the East Anglian coast was the first wind farm to use monopole foundations in water in excess of 30m deep.  It also has one hundred and forty of some of the largest turbines in the world at 3.6MW.  When construction commenced it was the largest offshore wind farm in the world.

QuadConsult Director Chris Usher was the CDM Co-ordinator’s representative for the project over an eighteen month period during the construction phase. The role covered the onshore substation site at Leistone near Sizewell, and the operational centre at the Port of Harwich, as well as the off-shore construction area. Associated with the role were reviews of the offshore sub-station construction in Hartlepool, and the foundation and transition piece final preparation and embarkation at the Port of Vlissingen in Holland.
