QuadConsult provided Civil and Structural Engineering design services for Riversimple’s first commercial refuelling site for hydrogen powered cars. Riversimple, an independent manufacturer of hydrogen electric vehicles, is based in Wales and was set up to eliminate the environmental impact of personal transport. They sited their station in Abergavenny, and QuadConsult co-ordinated and delivered the Civil design which included the ground slab and a prominent blast-resistant wall which acts as a barrier between the public and the stored hydrogen.
In keeping with Riversimple’s sustainable ethos, QuadConsult introduced them to a manufacturer of an innovative supplementary cementitious material (Banah Cement) which greatly reduces the amount of carbon dioxide produced per square metre of concrete.
