Andrew Villis
Andrew has experienced many aspects of the construction industry during nearly twenty years in the profession. He has worked his way up the career ladder of QuadConsult, progressing from Project Engineer, to Associate, to Director. His entrepreneurial spirit and thoughtful, fair manner when dealing with clients and colleagues mean he brings much-respected skills to the management team, and he demonstrates the success that can be found when following alternative career development paths.
Starting in engineering as a school leaver, Andrew was recruited as a Junior Technician by his now fellow Director Chris Usher at a Cardiff-based Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy. Embarking on an Engineering Apprenticeship from Training Services Wales, he qualified after two years. He then progressed to NVQ Level 4 from Bridgend College, at this point being employed as Engineering Technician.
Another route opened up after he moved to a small business in Caerphilly specialising in land surveying, where he adapted skills learned for engineering for his new role. After two years in surveying he was invited by QuadConsult's Directors Chris and Steve McCarthy to return to engineering and he re-joined them as Project Engineer, with Steve becoming a mentor to him. Several years later his time in land surveying made him the obvious choice to become Director of Corner Point, QuadConsult’s associated surveying company. Shortly afterwards he joined Chris and Steve as a Director of QuadConsult itself, the company his career has grown and developed with, and he now runs QuadConsult in tandem with Chris.
